Whilst changes or errors in doctrine indicate holy spirit does not direct the Governing Body, many followers do not manifest a scholarly nature and find such reasoning tedious.
Indiscretion on the part of the Governing Body can be more shocking and has been more effective in leading many to leave the religion. This is especially so in areas where the Watchtower is outspokenly critical of other religious organisations.
It is hypocritical that the Watchtower has devoted itself to condemning other religions for problems with child abuse and association with the United Nations, when it too has been similarly involved. Learning this quickly eliminates the shine off the Watchtower as an organisation, allowing a follower to reason more clearly on whether the doctrines are correct and if the religion is being directed by God.
